Dog & Bone Wetsuit topless and Splash44 retail package
While the new Apple iPhone 7 Plus has an IP67 dust and water resistant rating, the Apple standard warranty does not cover water damage. If you plan to use your phone in a wet environment, and not just occasionally get it splashed, then you should consider one of these Dog & Bone cases.
The Wetsuit case is available for $89.95 in four different colors. It has an interesting approach to the display, which can be seen in later photos. It offers IP68 dust and water resistance with MIL-STD 810G two meter drop protection.
The camera and Lightning port are also sealed up to try to improve the iPhone’s water resistance. It is available in four color options for $59.95.The Splash44 case doesn’t increase the water resistance, but it does offer the same MIL-STD 810G two meter drop protection along with a tempered glass screen protector.
Two pieces of the Dog & Bone Wetsuit case
The Wetsuit case is composed of a back piece and a front layer that snaps onto the display. There are very specific instructions provided inside the retail package that directs you to test out the case with a dummy insert piece prior to installing your own iPhone 7 Plus.
You need to make sure that everything seals properly and that you install your iPhone properly before trusting the case to keep your iPhone 7 Plus protected from the elements.
Front piece with bright pink O-ring and openings
Dog & Bone placed a bright pink O-ring inside the front piece so that you can easily see it and verify its structural integrity before you snap it in place onto the back piece.
Also note that there is no plastic screen cover here on this case. It’s topless so that you will interact directly on the display. You can purchase an optional tempered glass screen protector for more protection as well.
Back piece of the Wetsuit case
The back piece has clear plastic covers over the flash and camera lenses. There is also a textured back and rigid side and corner designs on the back cover.
iPhone 7 Plus mounted in the Wetsuit
There are openings for the front camera, speaker, and sensors. The case extends above the display to offer some protection in the case of slips or drops.
